Mary Rook Cottage is on our working beef and sheep farm just over a mile outside Keswick. It's one of two cottages converted from an old barn. You've got your own patio out the front.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, both with king-size beds. Two bathrooms, one's an en-suite. It's got a 4 Star rating so it's nicely done up and comfortable. The front is mostly glass, which makes it very light inside. The living room is upstairs on a mezzanine floor. The stairs are open-tread with a glass balustrade, so it might not suit very young children.
You're on a farm, so you'll see sheep and cattle in the fields. It's quiet here but Keswick town centre is about a twenty-minute walk away. There's a pub down the lane, about half a mile.
For getting out, you're well placed. Derwentwater is two miles for sailing or walking the shore. Skiddaw and Blencathra are right there if you want a proper mountain walk. Latrigg is a shorter climb with good views over the town.
In Keswick, there's a lot of shops, pubs, and places to eat. The Theatre by the Lake is good. The Pencil Museum is exactly what it sounds like. For a drive out, Bassenthwaite Lake and the wildlife park are about twenty minutes away. The Lakes Distillery is over that way too.
Facilities: there's parking, WiFi, a wood burner, a dishwasher, and bike storage. All bedding and towels are included. No pets, I'm afraid.
