Pitcairn Cottage is in Keswick. It's a terraced stone cottage from the 1890s, about a minute's walk from the main street. You can park on the road outside.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It's a 4 Star place, so it's comfortable and has everything you need. The garden is enclosed, so it's secure if you have kids.
Being that close to town means you can forget the car. You can walk to all the shops, pubs, and cafes. It's on a residential street, so it's quiet at night, but you're right there in the middle of things.
For a walk, you can just go out the door and up Latrigg for the view over Derwentwater. Catbells is a bit further, but it's the classic hike. Skiddaw and Blencathra are there if you want something bigger.
In town, the Theatre by the Lake is good if you fancy a show. Derwentwater is there for a row or a swim. The Pencil Museum is exactly what it sounds like.
If you drive, you're in the middle of the fells. Bassenthwaite Lake and the wildlife park are about twenty minutes north. The Lake District National Park site has all the walking routes.
Inside, it's got a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi. There's a cot and highchair if you need them. No pets, I'm afraid.
