The Ivy Cottage
The Ivy Cottage is in Keswick. It's a sandstone house near the Convention Centre. It's a five minute walk into town, the path is flat.
It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. The living space feels lighter than you'd expect for an old cottage. The sofas are comfortable, it's not just for show.
You have a private courtyard garden out the back. It's enclosed. It gets the sun in the afternoon.
Facilities are straightforward: dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi, TV. There's a cot and bedding if you need it. You can bring up to two dogs.
There's a local pub a few minutes away. It's fine for a pint.
Being in Keswick, you're right in the middle of everything. You can walk to Derwentwater in about ten minutes. For a longer hike, Skiddaw is right there, or you can drive to Borrowdale in under ten minutes. The Whinlatter forest park is about a twenty minute drive. They've got biking trails.
For days out without the car, the lake steamer from Keswick landing is good. If you do drive, Buttermere and Grasmere are both within half an hour. Ullswater is about twenty five minutes.
