This is 1 Tower Cottage, in Portinscale. That's the village just across the bridge from Keswick. It's one of a small row that used to be grooms' cottages for the big house.
It sleeps three. There are two bedrooms and a bathroom. The rating is 3 Star. It's comfortable and clean. It's been done up properly with a modern kitchen and bathroom, but we kept the old stone fireplace. There's a wood burner in there. From the front bedroom you can see a bit of Derwentwater through the trees.
You have a small courtyard garden to yourself. It's a quiet spot.
The village has a pub, a little shop and tea room, and a marina. You can walk straight from the door. There's a path along the lake shore, or you can head up onto the fells. Keswick is about a twenty minute walk along the footpath.
For a day out, you're close to everything. The National Trust looks after a lot of the land around Derwentwater. Honister Pass is about twenty minutes by car. Ullswater and the northern fells are within half an hour.
Facilities: there's a washing machine, a dishwasher, WiFi, and bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot. You can bring up to two dogs. There's a shower, no bath.
