This is 1 Tower Cottage in Portinscale. It's a small terrace cottage that used to be a groom's cottage for a bigger house. It sleeps three people. There are two bedrooms and one bathroom.
The cottage is old and has been done up. The wood burner works well and it's in a nice original fireplace. From the main bedroom you can just about see a bit of Derwentwater through the window.
The stairs are the original ones. They're cottage stairs, so they're steep and a bit narrow, with a turn at the bottom. Something to be aware of. Also, the bathroom is downstairs. That's just how these old places were built.
It's set back from the road around a courtyard, so it's quiet. You get a small patio area to yourself.
The village has what you need: a pub that does food, a little shop and tea room, and a marina. You can walk straight from the door. There's a path that goes along the lake, or you can head up Catbells. Keswick is about a 25-minute walk along the footpath, or there's a bus.
In the cottage you've got a washing machine, dishwasher, wifi, and the wood burner. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot. You can bring up to two dogs.
For planning days out, the National Trust looks after a lot of the local area, and the Lake District National Park site has maps and information.
