Wendover
Wendover is in the middle of Keswick. If you want to be out in the fells straight away, it's perfect.
It's an end-terrace house. It sleeps eight people in four bedrooms. There are two bathrooms, which helps with a full house. The rating is 3 Star, so it's comfortable and clean without being flash.
You get a private courtyard out the back. It's enclosed, so it's safe for a dog or kids. The kitchen is a good size for cooking if you're in.
Parking is for one car on site. The space is tight, so it's really best for a smaller car. If you have more than one, you'll need to use the pay and display car parks in town.
Everything in Keswick is a few minutes' walk. Shops, pubs, the lake. The local pub is about a two minute walk.
For walks, you can head up Skiddaw from the back of the house, or just wander down to Derwentwater. The National Trust page has good information about the lake.
Within half an hour you can drive to places like Ullswater, or over the Honister Pass to Buttermere. The Visit Lake District site is useful for planning.
Inside, there's a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and a cot and highchair if you need them. Bedding is included. We take one well-behaved dog.
