Cosy Cottage is in Portinscale. It's a small village next to Derwentwater, about a mile’s walk from Keswick. The place is exactly what it says: cosy. It's got low beams, so watch your head if you're tall.
It sleeps four in two double bedrooms. There's one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means everything works properly and it's comfortable. You can bring a couple of dogs. It's got a woodburning stove, which is good for cooler evenings.
The village has a pub that does food, a couple of restaurants, and a tea room that also works as a small shop. The marina is a two-minute walk if you're into boats.
Keswick is close for everything else you might need: supermarkets, more pubs, the cinema, that sort of thing. The cottage is on a quiet lane, but you can be on a footpath in a minute. Catbells is a classic walk from here. You can also just wander down to the lake shore.
For a wider trip, the Lake District National Park website has all the walking routes and advice. The National Trust looks after a lot of the local land and houses likeWordsworth's.
Facilities: WiFi, TV, washing machine, parking for one car right outside. There's a cot if you need it. All the bedding and electricity is included.
