Stables

It's called Stables. It's in Braithwaite, just outside Keswick. A detached house, sleeps eight. Four bedrooms, all with twin beds, and three bathrooms.

It's got a 4 Star rating. It was done up a while back and it's in good order. Comfortable, not overly fancy. The living room and the garden room have nice views. You can see Skiddaw from there.

The garden is a proper cottage garden with seating. There's a bit of woodland and a grassy bank at the bottom. You get the whole space to yourselves.

Braithwaite village is about a five minute walk. There are a couple of pubs that do food, a restaurant or two, and a shop for basics. You can start walking right from the door. Paths go up into the woods and into Whinlatter Forest. You're on the edge of the fells.

Keswick is a ten minute drive. They've got the usual shops, a theatre, plenty of places to eat, and the launch for the Derwentwater boats.

Within half an hour you can be in Borrowdale, up at the Honister Slate Mine, or at the foot of Catbells for that walk. The northern lakes are easy from here.

For facilities, it's got the normal things. Washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV. Parking for a couple of cars on the drive. Bedding and towels are included. No pets, sorry.

If you're planning trips, the Lake District National Park site is useful, and the National Trust for the Lake District has all their property details.
