Corner House

Corner House is our place in High Lorton. It's a detached cottage, about two hundred years old. It's got that old, listed building feel, with thick walls and a big inglenook fireplace in the dining room. There's a multi-fuel burner in there. It sleeps five.

There are three bedrooms. One has an en-suite toilet and shower, another has a king size bed, and the third is a single downstairs. That one's next to the lounge, so you could use it as a quiet reading room if you'd rather. There's a main bathroom upstairs too. The stairs are stone, so they're quite solid, but they are typical cottage stairs. Mind your head on the way up.

The kitchen is a galley kitchen. It has what you need. There's a separate little parlour room with a washing machine and dryer. Outside, there's a bench by the front door and one dedicated parking space which is easy to get to for unloading.

The village shop is excellent, honestly. It's less than a minute's walk. There's a village green with a stream right there too. The pub, the Wheatsheaf, is about half a mile up the lane. Cockermouth is three miles away for bigger shops and a market. Keswick is about eight miles.

You're right in the Lake District National Park. For walkers, you've got Whinlatter Forest on your doorstep, and the fells all around. The Lake District National Park site is good for planning. Go Ape is at Whinlatter if that's your sort of thing. There's fishing nearby if you organise it in advance.

Facilities: WiFi, parking, washing machine and dryer, all bedding included. We allow up to two dogs. There's a coal bunker outside with fuel for the stoves.
