Applegarth

Alright, so Applegarth is in Cockermouth. It's a Georgian town house, just off Main Street. You're basically in the town centre.

It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. It was all renovated a few years ago, so it's in good order. The stairs are fairly typical for a house like this.

You've got a living room with a wood burner. The kitchen has a dishwasher and a washer/dryer. French doors from the living area go out to the back garden. It's enclosed, which is good if you've got dogs. There's an apple tree out there, which is where the name comes from.

You're about a hundred yards from Main Street. There are shops, pubs, cafes, a couple of microbreweries. The Jennings Brewery is here. Wordsworth's birthplace is a five-minute walk. There's a leisure centre with a pool if you need it.

For getting out, you're right on the edge of the Lake District. Bassenthwaite Lake is about ten minutes by car. Keswick is maybe twenty minutes. If you head west, you can get to the coast, around Workington or Maryport, in under half an hour.

If you're walking or cycling, Whinlatter Forest is close. Buttermere valley isn't far either. The Lakes Distillery is near Bassenthwaite, and there's a wildlife park there too.

Facilities: the main ones are listed. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to two dogs. There's parking for one car on the street outside.
