The Snug

The Snug is a terraced cottage in Dearham. It's in a quiet village, but not remote. You can park right outside.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms upstairs, one bathroom. It's got a 3 Star rating. Everything works and it's clean, but it's not a show home. It's a proper cottage. The stairs are a typical cottage staircase, so they're a bit steep and narrow.

Downstairs, there's a living room, a separate dining room with a wood burner, and a kitchen. The kitchen has what you need. Upstairs, the bedrooms look out towards the fells. There's a shower over the bath.

Outside the back door there's a small yard with a bistro table. It gets the sun in the morning. You can have a coffee out there.

The village has a shop and a pub, both a few minutes' walk away. There's also a newer gastro pub, The Newmill, within walking distance.

Location is the main thing. You're about halfway between the coast and the Lake District proper. Maryport and its harbour are a short drive west. Cockermouth is about ten minutes east. It's a good town with independent shops and places to eat. Wordsworth's birthplace is there if that's of interest.

For the Lakes, you're well placed. Bassenthwaite Lake and the Wildlife Park are about a 20-minute drive. Keswick is maybe 25 minutes. The coast the other way is about ten minutes to the beach. The Solway Firth has long, sandy beaches with views over to Scotland.

It's good for walking straight from the door, or a short drive to more serious routes. Local fishing is available if you're into that. There's a golf course nearby.

Facilities: WiFi, TV, washing machine, bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to two dogs.
