Chapel Mouse Cottage is in Cockermouth. It's a converted chapel on a quiet street. You can walk into town from it.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one shower room upstairs. It got a 4 Star rating after it was done up in 2021, so it's all new and clean inside. There's a walk-in shower. Some of the old wooden beams are still there in the bedrooms.
The kitchen is new. Downstairs is all open plan. There's a small patio garden out the back.
You're about five minutes' walk from the main street. There's a supermarket close by, and a few pubs that do food. The National Trust's Wordsworth House is just down the road if you're interested.
Cockermouth itself is a proper market town. It's got independent shops, cafes, and a couple of microbreweries. Jennings Brewery is here. There's a leisure centre with a pool if you need it.
You're right on the edge of the Lake District. Bassenthwaite Lake is about a 10 minute drive away. Keswick is 20 minutes by car. For a good walk or cycle, Whinlatter Forest is close, and the road from there down to Buttermere is great.
There's fishing on the River Derwent if you have a rod licence. It's part of the property, so you can use it.
The cottage has a dishwasher, washing machine, wifi and parking. Bedding and towels are included. The entrance is step-free.
