Alan's Cottage is in Cockermouth, just off the main street. It's a two minute walk into town.
It's a modern cottage for four people. Two bedrooms upstairs, one double and one with two single beds. One bathroom with a shower.
The stairs are a typical cottage staircase, so a bit steeper than you get in a new house. The living room is at the front with big windows. There's a modern gas fire. The kitchen leads out to a small, enclosed patio garden.
It's got a 4 Star rating, which is good. It means it's well looked after. Bedding and towels are included.
You can park right outside the cottage.
In Cockermouth, you've got Jennings Brewery for a tour, and Wordsworth House. There's a local swimming pool and plenty of cafes and pubs. The town's good for independent shops.
You're right on the edge of the Lake District National Park. For walking, you're close to Bassenthwaite Lake, Loweswater, and Buttermere. It's about a twenty minute drive to Keswick. The coast at Allonby is about half an hour away.
For a day out, there's the Lake District Wildlife Park, or Go Ape in Whinlatter Forest. Both are within a half hour drive.
