Fieldside Farmhouse is near Dovenby, outside Cockermouth. Think of it as a big, solid house, proper old farmhouse style. It sleeps ten people across five bedrooms, so you get a few families or a big group in. It’s got a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well set up.
The house is detached, with a big garden that’s fenced in. Good if you've got kids or dogs. The garden gets the sun in the afternoon.
Inside, it's roomy. Downstairs there's a big living room with a wood burner, a separate dining room, and a kitchen with a table. There's a utility room and a games room too, which is handy with a group. The stairs are fine, just normal stairs.
Upstairs there are three double rooms and two twins. Two bathrooms, one with a bath. Everything is clean and there's plenty of towels and bedding.
Facilities wise: it has parking, Wi-Fi, a washing machine, a dishwasher, and a cot and highchair if you need them. You can bring up to two dogs.
The village pub is about a ten-minute walk. Cockermouth is two and a half miles away. It's a nice town with shops and places to eat. Jennings Brewery does tours if you're interested.
For getting out, you're right on the edge of the Lake District National Park. Bassenthwaite Lake is about a fifteen-minute drive east. The coast, places like Allonby, is about twenty minutes west. For a good walk, you can drive to Loweswater or Buttermere in under half an hour. Whinlatter Forest is nearby for cycling or Go Ape.
