Fieldside Farmhouse

Fieldside Farmhouse is in Dovenby, just outside Cockermouth. It's a proper old farmhouse. Detached, with a big garden all round.

It sleeps ten people. Five bedrooms, two bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's spacious, not luxury. It's clean and it works. The stairs are standard.

There's a main living room with a wood burner. The dining room has a big table that seats everyone. The kitchen is a good size, with a table, and there's a separate utility room with the washing machine. There's also a games room, which is useful if you've got kids with you.

The garden is large and fully enclosed, so it's safe for kids and dogs. You can bring two dogs. We're on a working farm, so you'll see sheep and hear the usual farm noises.

Cockermouth is about two and a half miles away. It's a nice town with shops, pubs, and a few things like Wordsworth House and the Jennings Brewery. The nearest local pub is about a mile's walk down the lane.

You're right on the edge of the Lake District National Park. Bassenthwaite Lake is about ten minutes by car. For a good walk, the Whinlatter Forest Park is maybe fifteen minutes drive. If you want the bigger lakes like Buttermere and Crummock Water, it's about twenty minutes south.

The west coast is close too. Allonby and Maryport are about a twenty minute drive if you fancy a different view and a beach walk.

Facilities: all the bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair. There's parking for several cars. Bicycle storage is available. The WiFi works fine.
