Beckside is in the village of Arkleby. It's a detached cottage. It sleeps two, one bedroom and one bathroom. It's got a 5 Star rating. Everything is on the ground floor and it's set up for wheelchair access.
The cottage is part of a small site with two other cottages. That can work well if you're booking with a bigger group of family or friends. You each get your own space but you're next door.
The village pub is about half a mile away. The nearest shop is two miles. The Solway Coast is four miles. The beach there is good for long walks, and it's popular with dog walkers. There are harbour towns like Silloth and Maryport along that coast for cafes and pubs.
Cockermouth is six miles away. It's a market town with shops and places to eat. Keswick is about fourteen miles, which gets you into the proper lakes and fells. Bassenthwaite Lake is six miles, and Derwentwater is near Keswick. You can do water activities there like paddle boarding.
There's private fishing on the River Ellen for salmon and trout, about a mile away. Golf and horse riding are available locally too.
As for the cottage itself: it has a hot tub. There's also a heated swimming pool on site you can book privately. It has a dishwasher and a washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. A cot and highchair are there if you need them. One well-behaved dog is welcome. There's parking right outside.
For planning days out, these sites are useful: Lake District National Park and National Trust Lake District.
