Beckside is in Arkleby, about six miles from Cockermouth. It’s a detached, single-storey cottage on what used to be a farm. The site has a couple of other cottages on it, so it’s good for a bigger group who want their own space. This one’s just for two people.
It’s got a 5 Star rating and is set up to be easy to get around. Everything’s on the ground floor. Wide doors, a walk-in shower with a seat and grab rails, and a ramp at the entrance. Parking is right outside.
Inside it’s one bedroom, one bathroom, and an open-plan living area. It’s clean and modern. There's a dishwasher and a washing machine. Outside there’s a private patio with a hot tub, a BBQ, and a view over the fields.
The pub is about half a mile away. It does food. There’s a shop a couple of miles away in the other direction.
Location-wise, you’re a bit back from the main Lake District crowds. The Solway Coast is about four miles away. There’s a long sandy beach at Allonby, good for walks. Cockermouth is six miles, and it’s a nice town with shops and places to eat.
For the bigger lakes and fells, you’re looking at a 20-30 minute drive. Bassenthwaite Lake is close, about six miles. Keswick is 14 miles. Derwentwater and Buttermere are within half an hour.
There’s fishing available on the River Ellen, a mile away. Golf and horse riding are nearby too. You can also book time at a private heated swimming pool on the site.
One well-behaved dog is welcome. Bedding and towels are included. There’s an electric vehicle charger.
