The Retreat is in Sunderland. That's between Cockermouth and Carlisle, on the quieter side of the Lake District. It's a detached stone cottage.
It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating. The rooms are good sized. It's comfortable and warm.
There's a front garden with a view over fields. You get that to yourselves. There's a small stream running through it, so you can hear the water. The garden is enclosed.
The kitchen has a dishwasher and a washing machine. There's full fibre broadband, so the internet is very good. You can get supermarket deliveries here.
You can park three cars on the front drive. Please don't park on the road, it's a farm road and big tractors need to get past.
For days out, you're about six miles from Cockermouth. Keswick is twelve miles, that's where the shops and the lake are. The coast at Allonby is about twelve miles too. Carlisle is twenty miles for bigger shops or the train station.
If you're walking, you're well placed for the northern fells like Skiddaw. The Solway coast is good for a different kind of walk. For organised trips, Lake District National Park has all the information. National Trust Lake District covers their houses and walks nearby.
Facilities: there's a wood burning stove, TV, WiFi, bedding and towels are included. There's an enclosed garden and patio. No pets, sorry.
