Brook House 1 is in Bassenthwaite village. It's one of a pair of cottages. The garden is walled and enclosed, so it's secure.
The cottage sleeps eight. There are four bedrooms and three bathrooms, which is handy with that many people. One of the bathrooms is a wet room on the ground floor. It's a 4 Star place, so it's comfortable and well looked after. The building is 17th century, so the ceilings are low in places and there are beams. Mind your head.
The pub is about two hundred yards up the road. They do food. For shopping, you'll need to drive to Keswick or Cockermouth, which are both about fifteen minutes away. Most supermarkets deliver here if you'd rather do that.
You're right in the northern Lakes here. It's a quieter spot. Bassenthwaite Lake is two miles away. You can walk from the door straight onto the fells if you want. Skiddaw is just there if you're after a big hike.
Things nearby: The Lake District Wildlife Park is five minutes by car. The Lakes Distillery is under ten minutes towards Cockermouth. Keswick has Derwentwater, all the shops and cafés, and a cinema. Cockermouth has Wordsworth House and Jennings Brewery.
The cottage has a wood burner, parking, WiFi, and a washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. You can bring one well-behaved dog.
For planning walks and days out: Lake District National Park and National Trust Lake District.
