Brook House 1 is in Bassenthwaite village. It's one of a row of old cottages, built in the 1600s. It looks out over the stream at the back. You can see the ducks from the bedrooms.
It sleeps eight. Four bedrooms, three bathrooms. One of the bathrooms is a wet room on the ground floor, which is useful. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and well looked after, not just basic. The beams are low in some doorways, so watch your head.
The pub is about two minutes' walk away. They do food and local beers. For a proper shop, you need Keswick or Cockermouth, which are about fifteen minutes by car. Supermarkets will deliver here.
The garden is enclosed with a wall. It's got a table and chairs. It's not huge, but it's private and safe for a dog.
You're right in the northern Lakes here. Bassenthwaite Lake is two miles away. Skiddaw is two miles in the other direction. There are good walks straight from the door, or you can drive a short way for more. It's a quieter spot than being right in Keswick.
The Lakes Distillery is under ten minutes drive. The Lake District Wildlife Park is about five minutes away. Mirehouse, which has the historic house and playgrounds, is also under ten minutes.
Keswick has Derwentwater, all the outdoor shops, and a lot of cafes. Cockermouth has Wordsworth House, Jennings Brewery, and some good independent shops.
Facilities: there's a wood burner, WiFi, a washing machine, a dishwasher, and parking. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair. You can bring one dog.
