Lealholme is in Bassenthwaite village. It's right on the green, with a farm next to it. The Skiddaw fells are basically at the back door. It's a bungalow, so everything's on one level. The doors are wide and there are no steps to get in.
It sleeps four, two bedrooms, one bathroom. The bathroom has a big walk-in shower. There's a wood burner in the living room. The kitchen's fine, it's got a dishwasher and a big electric range cooker. The garden is enclosed and gets the sun, there's parking in it through iron gates.
You're allowed up to four dogs. There's a beck that runs through the village, which is good for dogs and kids to paddle in. The local pub is a couple of minutes walk away, they're dog-friendly and do food. The nearest proper shop is in Keswick, about seven miles.
For getting out, you can walk straight from the door onto the fells. There are quieter paths up Skiddaw from here. Bassenthwaite Lake is just over a mile away. You can go to the osprey viewpoint there, or Dodd Wood is good for a shorter walk. Whinlatter Forest, which has mountain bike trails, is about ten minutes by car. Keswick is ten minutes one way, Cockermouth is ten minutes the other. Both have shops and places to eat.
The place has a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and clean. Facilities are what you'd expect: WiFi, TV, washing machine, bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them.
