This is Church Cottage on our farm near Ireby. It's one of a few cottages here, but it has its own garden space with a table. The view is the main thing. You look straight out over fields to the fells, and west towards Scotland. On a clear evening, the sunsets over the Solway are something else.
It's a 5 Star place, which basically means it's very well kitted out and comfortable for a cottage. Sleeps four, but in three bedrooms, which is handy. One bathroom. There's an open plan living area with beams and a big window for the view.
The farm's quiet. You'll see rabbits, plenty of birds, and if you're lucky, the odd red squirrel or deer. The lanes around here are good for a gentle walk, without having to drive to a trailhead.
You've got a pub in Ireby village, about a mile away. They do food. For a shop, you'd need to drive to Caldbeck or Uldale. Keswick and Cockermouth are both under ten miles, so not far for supermarkets or a day out.
On site, there's a shared games room with a pool table and table tennis, and a separate laundry room with a washer and dryer. Outside, there's a kids' play area with swings and a slide. We've got bike storage if you bring them. There's parking right outside.
It's a good spot for the Northern Lakes. You're close to the quieter bits like Aira Force and the Lake District National Park fells around Skiddaw, but without the crowds you get further south.
We include all bedding and towels. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. No pets, I'm afraid. We leave a welcome tray with tea and coffee and a bottle of wine for when you arrive.
