Starling Lodge is an open-plan cabin on our farm just outside the Lake District. It's detached, so you're on your own bit of decking with a hot tub and a barbecue. The view from there looks north over the fields towards Scotland.
It sleeps four, but it's one bedroom with a double bed and a sofa bed in the main room. So it's better for a couple, maybe with two kids. It's got a 3 Star rating. Everything works and it's clean, but it's not fancy. The shower is good, and there's a wood burner for when it gets cold.
You're on the edge of the Lake District National Park. The nearest pub and shop is about three miles away in Hesket Newmarket. It's a proper walking area from the door. For a beach day, you're looking at about an 18 mile drive to the coast.
Carlisle is about half an hour's drive. It's got the castle and museums if you need an indoor day. Keswick is roughly the same distance the other way, for the outdoor shops and cafes. The Caldbeck Fells around here are quieter than the central Lakes.
Facilities: there's a washing machine, towels are included, and you can park right outside. We've got an electric vehicle charger. You can bring up to three dogs. The WiFi works, but it's a farm, so it's not super fast.
