Swaledale Cottag
This is Swaledale Cottag. It's on our farm in Whelpo, near Caldbeck. It's a converted barn, the middle one of three. We're a working sheep and beef farm.
The cottage sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It's got a 3 Star rating, so it's comfortable and clean. There's an open plan living area downstairs with a woodburning stove. The stairs are a bit steep, like most old places round here.
You look out over our fields to the fells. The views are good. You can start a walk right from the door. Kids are welcome to see the farm. They can look at the tractor and sometimes feed the lambs in season.
We can take two well-behaved dogs. The garden is yours to use, but it's not fully enclosed, so dogs need watching.
Caldbeck village is about two and a half miles away. There's a shop there, and a couple of pubs that do food about two miles off. Keswick is a fifteen minute drive. You've got Derwentwater and Bassenthwaite Lake there. The Lake District National Park site is useful for walking routes.
Further out, Cockermouth is about fourteen miles, and Carlisle is sixteen. The M6 is about twenty minutes if you need to get on the motorway.
For facilities: there's a dishwasher, WiFi, a TV, and parking. Bedding and towels are included. We can put a cot in if you need one. The electricity is included in the price.
