Swaledale Cottage is in Whelpo, near Caldbeck. It's on a working farm. You drive along some unfenced roads to get here.
It's a three-star place, meaning it's comfortable but not high-end. Sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. The stairs are a bit steep. There are beams which you'll either like or bang your head on.
The cottage is one of three. You'll see sheep and tractors. It's quiet apart from farm sounds. The view from the back is fields and fells. You can walk straight out.
In the village, Caldbeck, there's a shop, a couple of cafes, and a pub that does food. It's two and a half miles away. Good for a pint.
Keswick is about a fifteen minute drive. That's where you go for boats on Derwentwater, the theatre, and supermarkets. Cockermouth is maybe twenty minutes. Carlisle is half an hour if you need a city.
For walks, you're right on the edge of the National Park. The Lake District National Park site has maps and route ideas. The northern fells like Skiddaw are right there.
It's got the basics. Wood burner, dishwasher, WiFi, TV. Parking right outside. We include bedding and towels. You can bring two dogs. There's a cot if you need one.
