Branthwaite Cottage is in Branthwaite, which is a quiet hamlet near Caldbeck. It's next to a working sheep farm, so you'll see and hear them. The odd tractor goes past, but mostly it's just quiet.
It's a Grade II listed cottage, so it's got old features. The front door is wood panelled. The stairs are steep, like in most old cottages. Mind your head on the shower room doorframe, it's low.
It sleeps four in two bedrooms. There's one bathroom with a shower. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's clean and comfortable. The kitchen has what you need. There's a wood burner in the living room. We leave logs for you.
Outside is a paved patio with a table and chairs. The garden is enclosed. There's a utility room and a separate storage room which is good for bikes.
The nearest pub is in Caldbeck, about three and a half miles away. It does food. The nearest shop is further, about ten miles, so you'll want to bring supplies or go to Keswick.
You can walk straight from the door onto the Caldbeck Fells. It's good walking and cycling country, much quieter than the central Lakes. Caldbeck village has a pub, a tea room, and some craft shops.
Keswick is about a 20-minute drive. Bassenthwaite Lake is nearby. Carlisle is about half an hour north if you need a city or it's raining. For planning days out, the Lake District National Park site is useful, as is the National Trust Lake District page.
Facilities: parking for one car on the drive, WiFi, TV, washing machine, dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. No pets, sorry.
