Rosedale

Rosedale is a cottage in Aughertree, which is in the Northern Fells part of the Lake District. It's attached to my farmhouse. You get a private garden with it. The views from here are very good, looking right over towards Skiddaw.

It sleeps three people. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It's got a 5 Star rating, which means it's well equipped and comfortable. The Wi-Fi is fine for emails but it's rural broadband, so don't expect to stream films on multiple devices.

You're on a working farm. We have rare breed sheep and ponies in the fields. You're welcome to walk around the farm tracks. Red squirrels are around, and you'll often see deer.

The cottage itself is warm. There's a woodburning stove, which we provide logs for. There's a dishwasher and a washing machine. All the bedding and towels are included. Parking is right outside.

For a shop or a main meal out, you'll need to drive. The nearest pub with food is in Uldale, about two miles away. Caldbeck village is four miles and has a couple of places to eat. Keswick is about a 20-minute drive and has everything: shops, restaurants, a leisure pool. It's on Derwent Water.

You can walk from the door straight onto the fells. Bassenthwaite Lake is about 15 minutes by car. The Lakes Distillery is nearby if that's of interest. For a longer day out, the coast at Allonby or Silloth is about half an hour.
