Blaithwaite Stables
Blaithwaite Stables is on our farm. It used to be the actual stables for the main house. We've done it up, but kept the old range fireplace in the kitchen. It's just for show, you cook on a normal modern hob.
It sleeps up to twenty people. There are eight bedrooms and eight bathrooms, so nearly everyone gets their own. Two of the downstairs bedrooms are set up for wheelchairs.
The building is detached and looks out over the old courtyard. You get the enclosed garden and orchard to yourselves. There's a small putting green and a big outdoor chess set. The kids' play areas are shared with the other cottages here, but they're right nearby.
We've got about eighty acres here. Half of it is gardens and the other half is woodland you're welcome to walk in. The woods have some unusual trees and wetland areas.
You're out in the country. The nearest shop is a mile and a half, the closest pub is two miles. For a restaurant, you're looking at five miles. Keswick is about twenty-five minutes drive one way, Carlisle is twenty-five minutes the other. Both have everything you'd need.
The coast at Allonby is about half an hour away if you fancy a beach. For walking, you're not far from the northern edge of the Lake District. Thirlmere and Bassenthwaite are easily reachable.
For facilities: it's got WiFi, TVs, a dishwasher and washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to two dogs. There's plenty of parking right outside.
