Meadow Cottage

Meadow Cottage is in Brackenthwaite. It's about three miles from the nearest shop or pub. This used to be a barn, it's one of two cottages next to our house. You're right on the B5305, so it's useful for getting about.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, both doubles. And two bathrooms, both with showers. We take one well-behaved dog. It has a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable.

Outside, there's a private patio area with a garden table. You can park right outside.

Inside, it's got pretty much what you'd need. Washing machine, dishwasher, Wi-Fi, TV. All the bedding and towels are included. We put up a Christmas tree in December.

The location is the main thing. You're not right in the Lakes, you're on the northern edge. That means you're about a twenty-minute drive from Keswick and Bassenthwaite Lake. But you're also really close to the Solway Coast for a different kind of walk. Hadrian's Wall is about half an hour east. You can even get into Scotland in under an hour if you fancied it.

Caldbeck village is the local spot, about three miles away. They've got a couple of decent pubs and a shop. Carlisle is about nine miles north for bigger supermarkets or the train station.
