Meadow Cottage
Meadow Cottage is by the B5305, just outside Brackenthwaite. It was a barn originally. We live next door. The road means you can get to the Lake District or up to Scotland easily, but you'll hear a bit of traffic now and then.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, both en-suite bathrooms with showers. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and clean. We've tried to keep some of the old stonework inside.
There's a walled garden out the front, it's just for you. You can sit out there safely.
The nearest proper shop and pub is in Caldbeck, about three miles away. It's a nice drive. There's a good butcher and a couple of pubs. The village is on the edge of Caldbeck Common, which is good for walking straight onto.
You can be in Keswick in under half an hour. Bassenthwaite Lake is that way too. Carlisle is about twenty minutes north if you need a bigger supermarket or the train station.
The Solway Coast and Hadrian's Wall are both easy drives from here. For planning, the Lake District National Park website is useful, and so is English Heritage for Hadrian's Wall.
In the cottage: there's a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and TV. All the bedding and towels are included. There's parking right outside. You can bring up to two dogs.
