Townend Cottage

Townend Cottage is in Wiggonby. It's a small farming village, very quiet. It's a semi-detached house. You've got neighbours on one side.

It sleeps two, in one bedroom. One bathroom. It's 4 Star rated, so it's well looked after and comfortable. There's a wood burner in the living room for chilly nights.

The best bit is the garden room, I think. It's a sort of sunroom with a table. You can sit there and look out over the private, enclosed garden. It's a nice spot for breakfast.

We put up some Christmas decorations in December. Just so you know, it'll have a festive theme if you book then.

The facilities are what you'd expect. Washing machine, WiFi, TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking right outside.

You can bring pets. Up to three, actually.

The local shop and the pub are about two miles away in Thursby. They're fine for basics and a meal.

For a day out, you're well placed. Carlisle is about ten miles one way, Wigton a bit less the other. Good if you need a supermarket or want to look around.

The Lake District is within half an hour's drive. So you can get to Keswick, Derwentwater, or some of the fells without too much hassle. Cockermouth is worth a visit too.

If you fancy the coast, Allonby is also about 30 minutes away. It's a long sandy beach on the Solway Firth. The views over to Scotland are great.

Right next to the village is Watchtree Nature Reserve. Good for a flat, easy walk.
