This is Taters Barn. It's in Oughterby, which is just outside the main Lake District National Park but you can see the fells from here. It's a one bedroom place for two people.
It's a converted barn. One big open room downstairs with the kitchen, sitting area, and a wood burner. The doors are big and let a lot of light in. Upstairs is the bedroom with a super king size bed and an en-suite shower. There's also a hot tub outside in the enclosed garden.
It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and well finished. Everything you need is there: towels, bedding, WiFi, parking. You can bring up to two dogs. The stairs are the original barn stairs, so they're a bit steeper and narrower than a normal house.
It's very quiet here. There are farms around. The nearest pub is about a mile walk down the lane. It does food. The proper shops and a restaurant are about five or six miles away in Brampton.
You're about a twenty minute drive from the northern edge of the Lake District. The Solway Coast is about the same distance the other way. Carlisle is maybe twenty-five minutes. It has the castle, the Tullie House museum, and all the usual shops.
I've been asked to put some links in for planning. These might be useful: Lake District National Park and for the coast, Solway Coast AONB.
