Hollow Creek Cottage is next to our farmhouse here in Kirkandrews. The farmhouse is old, 18th century, and the cottage is attached to it. It's just for two people.
It's got one bedroom and one bathroom. It's a 4 Star place, which I think is fair. We've kept some of the old features but put in proper modern things like the shower and the wood burner. It works.
The cottage is in the village but it feels rural. You look out over fields from the back. There's an enclosed garden with a patio and a table. It's a good sun trap in the afternoon.
The location is the main thing. You can walk straight from the door onto the Hadrian's Wall path. The cycle route to the coast is right here too. The Solway Firth is close if you want to see the mudflats and the birds.
You're about three miles from Carlisle for shops and things. The local pub is a 15 minute walk down the lane. They do food.
For a day out, you can get to a lot of places in under half an hour. The edge of the Lake District is about 20 minutes drive. Northumberland is the other way, also about 20 minutes. You can be in Scotland in 15 minutes. It's a good spot if you want to see different things without driving for hours.
We allow one well-behaved dog. There's parking right outside. It has a washing machine, WiFi, and a dishwasher. All the bedding and towels are included.
If you're planning walks or visits, these sites are useful: National Trust Lake District and Northumberland National Park.
