Stanwix Cottage is in Carlisle, on the northern edge of the city. It's a quiet spot. It's an old place, from the 1650s, but we've had it completely redone inside. It feels modern.
It sleeps five. There are three bedrooms and two bathrooms. One of the bedrooms has its own bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. The layout is a bit unusual. It's bigger than it looks from the front. There are three separate seating areas: a cosy front room, a main living room, and a conservatory out the back. The conservatory overlooks the garden. The garden is enclosed and private. It's a nice place to sit.
The kitchen is well equipped. It has a dishwasher and a washing machine. There's parking on the site. The entrance is wheelchair accessible, though it's an old cottage so you'd need to check the specifics if that's important.
The pub is about fifteen yards away. It used to be the coaching inn this place was the stables for. They do food.
You can walk into Carlisle city centre from here. Rickerby Park and the River Eden are very close for a stroll. The main reason to be here is for exploring. You're right between the Lake District and the Scottish borders.
The Lake District National Park is about half an hour's drive south. Hadrian's Wall is to the east, maybe twenty minutes. The National Trust looks after a lot of it. Heading north, the Solway Coast in Scotland is also within half an hour. The coast at Allonby or Silloth is about twenty-one miles.
You can bring one well-behaved dog. Bedding and towels are included.
