Lapwing

Lapwing is a pod on our land up in Brocklebank, north of Wigton. It's detached, so it's just you out there. You've got your own bit of garden that's fenced in.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well-equipped. One bedroom has a double bed, the other has bunks. It's all open plan, so if someone's in the kitchen making noise, you'll hear it from the sofa. The French doors are big. You can open them right up if the weather's good.

There's a hot tub. It's yours, outside the pod. A washing machine, bedding and towels are included. There's an electric vehicle charger on site too. You can bring dogs, up to three.

The location is on the edge of the Lake District. You're not right in the mountains, you're out in the fields. You get big skies and you can see over to Scotland. It's quiet. For a shop or a pub, you need to drive about three and a half miles.

Keswick is half an hour away by car. That's where you go for boat trips on the lake and walking. Carlisle is about the same distance the other way, if you want a city day, or to see the castle.

The coast is about seventeen miles. Allerdale's bit of the coast isn't sandy beaches, it's more like Solway Firth with its mudflats and birds.

If you're looking for walks or days out, these sites are useful: Lake District National Park and National Trust Lake District.
