Woodpecker Cottage

Woodpecker Cottage is here in Brocklebank. It’s an old farm building we’ve done up. It sleeps three. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It’s got a 4 Star rating.

It’s on 23 acres of land you’re free to wander. It’s just outside the actual Lake District National Park boundary, so it’s quiet. You look out over fields and drystone walls.

The main thing to know is it’s remote. The nearest pub and shop are about two and a half miles away in Hesket Newmarket or Caldbeck. You will need a car.

Caldbeck village is nice. It’s got a good pub, a shop, and a tea room. It’s about ten minutes by car.

The cottage has a hot tub in the enclosed garden. There’s a barbecue and bike storage. We’ve put in an electric vehicle charger. It has a dishwasher and a washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. There’s a cot and a highchair if you need them.

You can bring up to three dogs. The garden is enclosed but it’s not fortress-like, so you’d need to keep an eye on them.

You’re well placed for the quieter northern fells like Skiddaw or Blencathra, or you can drive down into Keswick in under half an hour. The coast at Allonby is about twenty-five minutes away. Carlisle and Hadrian’s Wall are less than half an hour’s drive. For the main lakes, Windermere is about forty-five minutes.
