Barn Owl Bothy
Barn Owl Bothy is near a place called Brocklebank, up near the Cumbrian border. It's part of a farm with a few other cottages, so you'll see other guests around. The views are good, over the fields and out towards the Solway Coast. You can see Scotland from here.
It's a studio, so it's all one room. There's a kitchen area, a living space, and a double bed at one end. It sleeps two adults properly. There's also a small 4ft bed up a ladder in an alcove. That's fine for one adult or a couple of kids. The shower room is separate.
It’s got its own verandah with a table and chairs. There's a hot tub on the verandah too. The garden is fenced, so it's private.
The farm itself is 23 acres, so you can walk around it. You get owls, deer, that sort of thing.
You're on the edge of the Lake District, but the quiet northern side. The village of Caldbeck is about ten minutes by car. There's a pub, a shop, and a tea room there. The nearest main shop and pub are about two and a half miles away.
From here, the Northern Fells are good for walking without the crowds. The Cumbrian coast is about 17 miles for a beach day. Carlisle and Hadrian's Wall are within half an hour's drive. The Lake District National Park site has walking routes. For the wall, try English Heritage.
Facilities: It's got parking right outside, WiFi, and a TV. There's an electric vehicle charger, a BBQ, and space for bikes. Bedding and towels are included. We've got a cot and a highchair if you need them. You can bring up to three dogs.
