Rose Cottage

Rose Cottage is on our farm in Aughertree. It's attached to our house on one side, but you have your own door and space. The setting is rural. You can see Skiddaw from here.

It's for two people. One bedroom, one bathroom. It has a 5 Star Gold rating. That means it's well equipped and comfortable. It's clean and tidy.

The stairs are typical cottage stairs. They're steep. Watch your head coming down.

You get the garden area to yourselves. It looks out over the fields. There's a woodburning stove for cooler evenings. We include all the bedding and towels.

You're welcome to walk around the farm fields. We've got some rare breed sheep. You might see red squirrels or deer. There are public footpaths close by for longer walks.

The village of Uldale is about two miles away. It has a pub that does good food. Ireby is a bit closer, also with a pub. Caldbeck is four miles, with a few more shops and tea rooms.

Keswick is about a 20-minute drive. That's where Derwent Water is, and the town has plenty of shops and places to eat. Bassenthwaite Lake is a bit closer, maybe 15 minutes. The Lakes Distillery is nearby if that's of interest.

For wider planning, the Lake District National Park website is useful. The National Trust looks after a lot of the local land.

Facilities at the cottage: there's WiFi, a TV, a washing machine, and a dishwasher. Parking is right outside. There's a BBQ you can use. No pets, I'm afraid.
