Rose Cottage
This is Rose Cottage. It's attached to our farmhouse here in Aughertree, Cumbria. It's a one bedroom place, just for two people. It's got a 5 Star Gold rating, which basically means it's been done up to a high standard and everything's in good order.
You've got one bedroom upstairs with a four poster bed. The bathroom has a shower over the bath. Downstairs is open plan with a wood burner. French doors lead out to your own garden. You're welcome to walk in the fields around the farm. We often see red squirrels.
The farm is about five hundred acres in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. You can start walks right from the door. Keswick is about seven miles away, on Derwent Water. It's got shops, places to eat, and a leisure pool. National Trust Borrowdale and Derwent Water is a good starting point for local walks.
Uldale village is two miles away and has a pub that does food. There's another pub in Ireby, about a mile and a half away. The nearest shop is about four miles, in Caldbeck. For a bigger day out, the northern Lake District fells are within a half hour drive. Bassenthwaite Lake is about six miles.
Included in the cottage: a washing machine, dishwasher, TV, WiFi, and parking. Bedding and towels are provided. There's a BBQ and a wood burner. We supply an initial amount of fuel for the burner. No pets, I'm afraid.
