The Old Stables

The Old Stables is in High Ireby, which is a quiet hamlet north of Keswick. It's peaceful here, up in the Northern Fells.

It sleeps four. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and well kept. The stairs are normal, nothing to note.

The garden is yours to use. It looks out over the Uldale Fells. The woodland and fields beyond aren't fenced off, so you can walk straight out from the garden into the wider estate grounds, which include Binsey Fell. You'll see a lot of wildlife.

There's a pub about a mile away. The nearest shop is six miles, in Caldbeck, so it's best to bring what you need. Keswick is about a twenty minute drive. Cockermouth is a bit closer, maybe fifteen minutes.

You can walk from the door. Binsey is the closest fell. For a day out, the Solway Coast is about forty minutes north. Carlisle is half an hour that way too.

The cottage has Hugh Walpole connections. He wrote the Herries novels based around here if that means anything to you.

Facilities: there's a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and parking on site. Bedding is included. We can provide a cot and highchair. You can bring up to two dogs.
