The Old Stables

The Old Stables is in High Ireby. It's a hamlet, so it's quiet. The house is in the Northern Fells, between Keswick and Cockermouth.

It sleeps four. Three bedrooms and two bathrooms, which is handy. The rating is 4 Star. It's comfortable and well looked after.

The garden is private and has a good view over the Uldale Fells. It opens straight onto the wider grounds of the Ireby Grange Estate. There aren't any fences, so you can just walk out. You're free to explore the estate, which includes Binsey Fell. You can start a walk from the door.

There's a pub a mile away. The nearest shop is about six miles, so you'd drive. Keswick is maybe twenty minutes by car. Cockermouth's about the same. Carlisle and the Solway coast are within half an hour if you fancied a change.

The writer Hugh Walpole used this area for his Herries books. There's a plaque about it.

For facilities: there's a dishwasher, washing machine, wifi, and parking. Bedding is included. We have a cot and a highchair. You can bring up to two dogs.

If the place is full, we also have Laundry Cottage next door. You can book both together for bigger groups.
