Hawthorne House is an apartment on the ground floor of a big old stone house. It's in Dubwath, right by Bassenthwaite Lake. You can see Sale Fell from the windows. It's quite handy, just off the A66, but it's quiet.
The house was built in 1895 so the ceilings are high and the windows are big. It sleeps four, with two bedrooms and one bathroom. The beds all have sheets and duvets. We've got towels too. There's a shower.
Inside there's a living room, a kitchen with a dishwasher and washing machine. There's a TV and Wi-Fi. Parking is outside.
The best thing is the location. You're about 500 yards from the edge of the lake itself. There's a pub about the same distance away, next to Silver Meadows nature reserve. The Lakes Distillery is about a mile's walk along the lake path.
Keswick is eight miles one way, and Cockermouth is five miles the other. Cockermouth has the Wordsworth house. For walking, Whinlatter Forest and Dodd Wood are close by. The osprey viewing at Dodd is good if you're into that. Bassenthwaite Sailing Club is very close if you have a boat.
It's a three star place. That means it's clean and comfortable but not luxurious. The building is old and solid, so you'll hear some normal house noises. It's good for a straightforward base.
