Melbreak

Melbreak is in High Lorton, Cumbria. It's a terraced cottage, one of a row. It's a 4 Star place, which means it's modern and well-equipped.

The house is upside down. The two bedrooms and the bathroom are on the ground floor. The living room, kitchen and dining area are all together upstairs. We did that for the view. You can see the fells from the windows.

It sleeps four. One double room and one twin room. There's one bathroom with a shower. The kitchen has a dishwasher and a coffee machine. There's a separate utility room with a washing machine. Parking is for two cars.

Outside, there's a small garden area with a picnic bench. It gets the sun in the afternoon.

The village has a shop about 350 yards away. There's a good pub serving food, which is about three quarters of a mile. It's a quiet spot.

You're in the Vale of Lorton. It's good for walking and cycling right from the door. Cockermouth is a short drive one way, Keswick the other. The lakes like Crummock Water and Buttermere are very close. Whinlatter Forest is about four miles away; they have walking trails, a cycle centre, and a Go Ape course.

For more information on the area, the Lake District National Park site is useful. The National Trust looks after a lot of the local land and has details on their places.

Facilities: all the bedding and towels are included. There's WiFi, a TV, and bike storage. No pets.
