The Old Post Office is in Loweswater. It's a detached house, so no one attached to the sides. It’s a 5 Star place, which means it's been done up to a high standard.
It sleeps six. There are three bedrooms. Two doubles upstairs and a twin room downstairs. One bathroom, also upstairs. There's a separate sitting room and a big open plan kitchen and living space downstairs. The back doors open right up onto the garden. The garden is enclosed, which is good if you have kids or a dog. There’s parking.
The Kirkstile Inn is about five minutes’ walk down the lane. They do food and brew their own beer, the Loweswater Gold. It’s a proper local.
The house is between Loweswater lake and Crummock Water. Both are about a mile or so away in opposite directions. The walk around Loweswater is easy and flat, good for a morning. You often see red squirrels.
For bigger walks, you’re right at the foot of the fells. Mellbreak is straight ahead. For a longer day, the Buttermere valley is a short drive and you can get up to High Stile or Grasmoor from there.
Cockermouth is about seven miles for a decent supermarket. Keswick is ten miles, over the Whinlatter Pass. The views from the pass are worth the drive themselves.
In the house you’ve got a washing machine, dishwasher, Wi-Fi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. There’s bike storage if you need it. Sorry, no pets.
