The Alpaca Lodge is in Rowrah, just outside the Lake District National Park boundary. It's a Canadian timber lodge, so it's all wood inside. Detached, with its own enclosed garden and parking right there.
It sleeps four, in two bedrooms. Both bedrooms have their own bathroom, which is handy. It's got a 4 Star rating. There's underfloor heating downstairs and a woodburning stove if you want it. You get all the usual things, WiFi, TV, dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included.
The main thing is the setting. It's on a smallholding. There are alpacas in the field right outside your windows. They're interesting to watch. There are also donkeys, hens, and horses. You can book to walk the alpacas if you want to. We get red squirrels and deer around the place too.
Down the road, about a quarter of a mile, there's a pub that does food and the Ennerdale Brewery tap room. A decent shop is two and a half miles away in Frizington.
For getting outside, a footpath into the woods starts at the end of the drive. The Lake District National Park starts about two miles away. Ennerdale Water is the nearest lake, about four miles. It's very quiet and wild there. Loweswater, Crummock Water, and Buttermere are all within a short drive. The coast at St Bees is about ten miles.
If you need other things to do, there's a go-kart track just outside the village. Cockermouth is nine miles away for shops and cafes. Whitehaven, for the harbour and more shops, is seven miles.
You can bring up to two dogs. There's an enclosed garden for them.
