The Alpaca Lodge

The Alpaca Lodge is in Rowrah, just outside the western edge of the Lake District. It's a detached timber lodge. The main thing is the field of alpacas right outside your front window. You can watch them from the sofa. They're funny to look at.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, both with their own bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. Everything's on one level, which is handy.

The lodge is on a smallholding. There are also donkeys, hens, and horses. You'll see red squirrels around. The owners live on site and you can book to meet the animals or do an alpaca walk if you want to.

There's a pub and a brewery tap room with a restaurant about a quarter of a mile down the road. A decent shop is two and a half miles away in Frizington. At the end of the drive, a footpath goes straight into Marron Leys woodland. It's good for a short walk with the dogs.

You're about two miles from the Lake District National Park boundary. The nearest lake is Ennerdale Water, four miles away. It's one of the quieter ones. Loweswater is six miles, then Crummock and Buttermere. The coast at St Bees is within half an hour's drive. Cockermouth is about nine miles away for shops and cafes.

For facilities: it's got a woodburning stove, a dishwasher, WiFi, and an enclosed garden. Parking is right outside. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to two dogs.
