Catbells

Catbells is in Winder, near Frizington. It's a terraced cottage, set in a quiet row. The name's nothing to do with the Catbells fell near Keswick, it's just what it's called.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms upstairs, one double and one twin. The bathroom's downstairs, with a shower over the bath. It's got a 3 Star rating. It's clean, warm and straightforward.

The living room has a woodburning stove. There's a TV, WiFi, and a dishwasher. The garden is enclosed, which is good if you have dogs. You can bring up to three. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them.

There's a shop and a pub about a mile away. For a bigger shop, Whitehaven is five miles. It has a harbour, restaurants, and supermarkets.

You're on the edge of the Lake District National Park. Ennerdale Water is about five miles away. It's very quiet and unspoiled. You might see red squirrels. For a drive, the loop around Loweswater, Crummock Water and Buttermere is about ten miles away and the scenery is excellent.

The coast at St Bees Head is eight miles. Good for cliff walks and a sandy beach.

Within half an hour you can get to Wasdale for Wast Water and the start of the Scafell Pike path. You can also get to Ravenglass for the miniature railway, La'al Ratty.
