Rose Cottage
This is Rose Cottage. It's on a working dairy farm in Bigrigg, Cumbria. The farm is called Springfield. We're on the driveway leading up to the farmyard, so you're a little way from the main buildings.
It's a detached sandstone cottage. Sleeps four, two double bedrooms. One bathroom. It's got a 3 Star rating. Everything works and it's clean, but it's not a fancy show home. It's a proper cottage.
You get your own garden and a patio with furniture. It catches the morning sun. The view from there is over our fields. You'll see the cows. It's quiet. The main noise is birds, or sometimes the cows.
Inside, there's a living and dining room with a wood burner. The kitchen's modern enough. There's a washing machine. WiFi works. Bedding and towels are included. You can park right outside.
The village of Bigrigg is about half a mile walk. There's a shop and a pub there. Egremont is a couple of miles away for more shops. The coast at St Bees is about three miles. It's a good sandy beach. That's also where the Coast to Coast walk starts.
You're right between the coast and the Lake District National Park. Ennerdale Water is about seven miles away. Buttermere and Borrowdale are within a half hour drive. Scafell Pike is accessible from here, but that's a serious day out.
