Highland Cottage is in Whitehaven. It's a detached bungalow, so everything's on one level. The stairs thing isn't an issue here. It's got a 4 Star rating.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms. One has a king-size bed and an en-suite shower room. The other has two single beds. There's a second bathroom as well.
The living room is open plan and gets a lot of light. There's a TV with Netflix. The conservatory looks out onto the garden.
Speaking of the garden, it's enclosed. There's a greenhouse and some fruit trees. The driveway is large, with plenty of parking. There's a garage you can use for storing bikes.
The cottage is up on a bit of a hill, so you get views of the coastline. Whitehaven town centre is about a mile away. There are supermarkets, shops, pubs, and places to eat. The harbour area has The Beacon Museum and The Rum Story. There's a sports centre with a pool about two miles away.
For the coast, St Bees Head and the beach are about six miles. That's also the start of Wainwright's Coast to Coast walk. The Lake District National Park starts about five miles drive. Ennerdale Water is six miles away and it's very quiet. From there you can get to other lakes like Loweswater and Buttermere.
It's a good base if you're here for walking or cycling. Cockermouth, Muncaster Castle, and Keswick are all within reasonable driving distance.
Facilities: Wi-Fi, washing machine, dishwasher, bedding and towels are included. Parking on site. You can bring up to two dogs.
