Owls Retreat

Owls Retreat is a barn conversion cottage in Parton, Cumbria. It's one of a row, part of the old Moresby Hall farm buildings. It's quiet here.

The cottage sleeps four in two bedrooms downstairs. One has a double bed. The other has a zip-link bed, so you can have it as a super king or as two twins. There's a pull-out single bed for a child too. Upstairs is all open plan: the kitchen, dining area, and living room are together. It's a 4 Star place, so it's well-equipped and comfortable.

The stairs are a typical cottage staircase. They're a bit steep and turn halfway up. Just so you know.

You're about a three quarter mile walk from Parton beach. It's a quiet bit of coast, good for a stroll. The local pub and a restaurant are about half a mile away. There's a decent shop for basics a mile away in Parton.

Whitehaven is two and a half miles down the road. That's where you'll find supermarkets, proper shops, lots of places to eat, and the harbour. The Beacon Museum is there if you're interested in local history. They've also got a sports centre with a pool.

If you're here for the walking, you're well placed. St Bees Head, which is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the start of Wainwright's Coast to Coast walk, is about a ten minute drive. The edge of the Lake District National Park is about a fifteen minute drive. Ennerdale is roughly twenty minutes away - it's very quiet and unspoilt. You can be at Loweswater in under half an hour, which leads on to Crummock Water and Buttermere.

The cottage has a washing machine, TV, and parking right outside. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and a highchair if you need them. No pets, sorry.
