Owls Retreat is in the hamlet at Moresby Hall. It's a terraced barn conversion, one of a few around the old farmyard. You get your own front door and a parking space right outside.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms downstairs, both a good size. One has a double bed, the other has a zip-link bed that can be a super king or two singles. There's also a pull-out bed for a child if you need it. The bathroom is down there too. Everything is upstairs: the kitchen, dining table, and living room in one open space. It's a 4 Star, so it's comfortable and well-equipped.
The stairs are a bit steep, as you'd expect in a barn.
There's a shop a mile away in Parton for basics. The Rosehill Theatre is about half a mile away, and they have a restaurant. Parton beach is three quarters of a mile. It's a quiet bit of coast, good for a stroll.
Whitehaven is two and a half miles away. That's where you'll find supermarkets, most of the shops, and plenty of places to eat. The harbour has The Beacon Museum and the Rum Story. There's also a sports centre with a pool.
For walking, St Bees Head is close by. That's an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the start of the Coast to Coast path. The Lake District National Park boundary is about nine miles drive. Ennerdale Water is ten miles, and it's one of the quieter lakes. Loweswater, Crummock Water, and Buttermere are all within a fifteen mile drive.
The cottage has a washing machine, TV, parking, and bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and a highchair. No pets, sorry.
