High Mains
High Mains is on our farm in Winscales. It's a detached bungalow, so everything is on one level. That's good for accessibility. The garden is fully enclosed and goes all the way round the place.
It sleeps eight. There are four bedrooms and three bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating. The beds are all cast-iron frames, which look nice but are a bit heavy, so mind your toes. The bedding is from The White Company.
You look out over the fields from the big windows in the kitchen. The decking is raised, so you get a good view from there too. It's a working farm, so you'll see sheep and maybe the tractor going past. It's quiet, but you'll hear farm noises.
Cockermouth is about ten minutes by car. It's a proper market town with shops and pubs. Wordsworth's birthplace is there if you're interested. Keswick is about twenty-five minutes away. For a quieter lake, Loweswater and Buttermere are a short drive.
The coast at Workington is about fifteen minutes. There's a local pub a couple of miles down the lane. It does food.
For facilities: there's parking for four cars, a washing machine, a dishwasher, bike storage, and WiFi. We can take up to two pets. Bedding and towels are included. We leave some tea, coffee, and a few things to get you started.
