Beck Cottage
Beck Cottage is in Croasdale, near Ennerdale. It's detached and right by a small river, or beck. There's no one on the other side of the wall.
It sleeps six, but in two triple rooms. So it's two bedrooms with three beds in each. There's one bathroom. It's a 4 Star place. It's comfortable and well looked after.
The owners live next door in the farmhouse. They're friendly but they leave you to it. You'll see their ducks wandering about. Red squirrels come to the feeders by the conservatory quite often.
The cottage is on a smallholding, so you've got a bit of land to walk around. The Ennerdale Valley is very quiet. There's almost no light pollution, so the stars are clear on a good night.
For a proper walk, Ennerdale Water is about a mile away. The path around it is good. You're right on the Coast to Coast path too. Buttermere, Crummock Water and Loweswater are all within a half hour drive. For the fells, you've got choices like Red Pike and Haystacks not far away.
The nearest shop and pub are two miles away in Ennerdale Bridge. For a supermarket or a town, Whitehaven is about ten miles. It's a proper seaside town with a harbour.
Facilities: there's parking, a washing machine, a dishwasher, and a multi-fuel burner. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and a highchair. No pets, sorry.
