Trevene

Trevene is a house in Buttermere. It's detached, so no neighbours through the walls. The garden is big and we get red squirrels in it quite often.

It sleeps eight people in four bedrooms. There's a kingsize bed, two doubles, and a twin room. Two bathrooms, one of which is a wet room downstairs. It's got a 4 Star rating. The place is comfortable and looked after.

The kitchen has an Aga as well as a standard oven. There's a big table in there. The sun room off the kitchen is a good spot, it looks out over the garden and the fells. The living room has a wood burner. There's a separate study if you want somewhere quiet.

You're right in the village. There are two pubs about 350 yards away. Both serve food. There are also two tea rooms. The nearest shop for a big grocery run is in Lorton, about six miles away.

Buttermere lake is a few minutes' walk from the house. Crummock Water is the same. You can walk around both. The fells right from the door are some of the best known in the Lakes. For other walks, Lake District National Park has all the routes.

Keswick is about a 20-minute drive. It has shops, a cinema, and the usual tourist things. Cockermouth is a bit further, maybe 25 minutes. Whinlatter Forest is a 15-minute drive, good for mountain biking or a walk in the trees. The Lake District Wildlife Park is near Bassenthwaite, about half an hour away.

For facilities: there's parking for a couple of cars on the drive. Wifi, TV, washing machine, dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and a highchair. The ground floor wet room and level entrance make it okay for someone with limited mobility, but it's not a fully adapted property. No pets, sorry.

If you want to plan ahead, the National Trust Lake District site is useful for their places nearby.
