Fairholme

Fairholme is up in the hamlet of Seldom Seen, near Thornthwaite. It's the end cottage of a small terrace. It used to be a saw mill, so it's old stone and solid, nothing fancy.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms upstairs, one bathroom. The whole place is as it was built, really. Ceilings are a bit low in places, windows are small. You get what you'd expect.

Outside, there's a patio area. You're right on the edge of Whinlatter Forest, so you just walk out the door and you're in pine trees. It's very quiet up here.

There's a gallery and tea room a minute's walk away. For a shop or a pub, you drive down into Braithwaite. It's about ten minutes. Kerr's Kitchen in the village does good coffee and meals.

The main reason to stay here is the forest. The Whinlatter Visitor Centre is just up the road. They've got walking trails, mountain bike routes, a play area for kids. You can see ospreys sometimes. Keswick is fifteen minutes down the hill for everything else.

Inside, it's got everything you'd need. Washing machine, proper Wi-Fi, TV, parking right outside. The heating works well. Bedding is included. There's a cot and a highchair. No pets.
