Skiddaw View is in Keswick. It's a first and second floor apartment, not a cottage. You get good views from the top floor bedrooms, as the name suggests, looking out towards Skiddaw.
It sleeps six people in three bedrooms. There are two bathrooms, which is handy. It's got a 3 Star rating, so it's comfortable and clean. We've decorated it plainly, kept it light. The stairs inside are fine, just normal stairs.
The location is the main thing. You're right in the middle of Keswick. The nearest shop and a pub are about ten seconds walk away. There are plenty of places to eat and drink, all on your doorstep.
Derwentwater is a five minute walk. You can get launches from there. For walking, you can step out the door and be on the fells. Catbells is a classic, and it's just across the lake. The Lake District National Park site is good for planning routes.
If you want to drive, Whinlatter Forest is about ten minutes away. They have mountain bike trails and a decent café. Honister Pass and the slate mine are about fifteen minutes in the other direction.
The facilities are what you'd expect. There's a washing machine and a dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot. You can bring one dog.
For more information on the area, the National Trust Lake District page is useful.
