Topsey Turvey

Topsey Turvey is a two bedroom cottage converted from an old stable. It's in the yard behind the Four in Hand Hotel, right in the centre of Keswick.

The name comes from it being upside down. You go in on the ground floor where the bedrooms and bathrooms are, then you go upstairs to the living area. We did that because the view from upstairs is good. You can see over the rooftops to Causey Pike and Grisedale Pike.

It sleeps four. There are two bedrooms and two bathrooms, which is handy. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and well-equipped. The patio and garden are yours to use.

Being in the centre means you can walk to everything in Keswick. The market square, shops, and places to eat are a minute away. The hotel it's attached to has a pub, so you don't have to go far for a drink. It can get lively on weekends because of the pub, but it's generally quiet.

For getting out, you can walk to Fitz Park or along the river. Derwentwater is less than a ten minute walk. You can get a launch from there to go across the lake.

For driving, you're straight onto the roads for Borrowdale or the Newlands Valley. The National Trust's Borrowdale page has walk ideas. The Whinlatter Forest trails are about a fifteen minute drive. If you want to go higher, the drive to Honister Pass is very dramatic.

Inside, it's got what you'd expect: TV, dishwasher, washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot if you need one. No pets, I'm afraid.
