Harrison's Lodge is in Scales, near Keswick. It's on a working farm, up on the lower slopes of Blencathra. The lodge is detached and timber-built. It's for two people.
It's got a 3 Star rating. That means it's clean and everything works, but it's not luxury. It's a good, solid base. The whole ground floor is open plan. There's a kitchen area, a small shower room, and a living space with a sofa and TV. The stairs go up to the bedroom under the eaves. They're a bit steep and winding, just so you know.
Outside, there's a patio that gets the sun. It looks south over the fields. You can bring one dog. The entrance is wheelchair accessible, but the inside isn't really, because of the stairs.
There's a pub about three quarters of a mile away in the village. The farm is just off the A66, between Penrith and Keswick. Keswick is about five miles west. You've got all the shops and cafes there, and Derwentwater is right there too.
For walking, you're basically on Blencathra. It's a proper fell, not a gentle stroll. For something less steep, there are lower paths around Threlkeld. Keswick is a good start for lots of walks. If you want a tourist thing, the Pencil Museum is in Keswick, or the Theatre by the Lake.
Facilities: all the bedding and towels are included. There's a washing machine, TV, WiFi, and parking right outside. You're on a farm, so you'll see sheep and cattle about.
