Hilltoft Barn
Hilltoft Barn is in Dockray. It's a big, detached barn conversion. It sleeps four and has two bedrooms. One is a double up on a mezzanine level, which is quite a nice feature. The other is a twin on the ground floor. There's one bathroom.
It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable. It's all on one level apart from the stairs up to the mezzanine bedroom. Those stairs are open-tread, so you need to be a bit careful. The entrance and the wet room are wheelchair accessible, but the rest of the ground floor has a few small steps between rooms.
Outside there's a private patio with furniture and good views. Plenty of parking.
Dockray is a very small village. The pub is about a minute's walk away. They do food. For a shop, you need to drive to Glenridding or Penrith, that's a few miles.
The main thing here is the location. You can walk straight from the door to Aira Force waterfall. It's a proper waterfall, very good. The National Trust look after it and the Gowbarrow Fell walk there is one of the best shorter hikes around Ullswater.
Ullswater is about two miles down the road. You can get the steamer from Glenridding if you want a day out on the water. For other walks, Helvellyn is close, and the Lake District National Park site has all the routes.
Inside, it's got what you'd need: dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. It says pets are welcome, up to two.
If you're driving, Keswick is about twenty minutes away. Penrith, with the train station, is about twenty-five minutes.
