Hilltoft Barn is in Dockray. It's a barn we converted, so it's big and detached. You get it to yourselves.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. The master bedroom is up on a mezzanine level, which means it's open to the living room below. There's a twin bedroom on the ground floor.
The stairs up to the mezzanine are a proper staircase, not a ladder, but they're open-tread. Something to be aware of with small kids.
There's a pub about a hundred yards down the road. They do food. The nearest shop is about four miles away in Pooley Bridge, so you'll want to bring your supplies.
The best thing is the location. You can walk to Aira Force waterfall from the cottage. It's a National Trust site. The Gowbarrow Fell trail starts there too. Ullswater lake is a few miles down the road.
For a day out, you've got Penrith about twenty minutes' drive east. Keswick is about half an hour south, over Kirkstone Pass. The northern lakes are all within easy reach.
Facilities: there's a washing machine, a dishwasher, parking, and WiFi. The shower room is on the ground floor and is a wet room. The entrance is wheelchair accessible, but the main living area has a small step up from the hall. The garden is a patio with furniture. You can bring up to two dogs.
