This is Galena. It's a detached cottage in Glenridding, Cumbria. It's on the edge of the village, up the hill a bit among the trees. It’s quiet up there.
It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, one bathroom. It’s got a 3 Star rating. Everything works, it’s clean and warm. The woodburner is good.
The cottage has a patio with a view over the trees. You do see wildlife. Red squirrels are common. We’ve had deer on the patio before now.
The village centre is about a five or ten minute walk downhill. There are a couple of pubs that do food, a shop, cafes, and the pier for the Ullswater steamers. You can hire boats or bikes from there too.
If you're here to walk, you're in the right place. You can pick up the path up Helvellyn from the village. For a less steep day, the walk along Ullswater to Aira Force waterfall is straightforward and very nice. The whole area is a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
For a drive out, Pooley Bridge is at the other end of Ullswater, about 15 minutes by car. Keswick is roughly half an hour. Penrith is about 25 minutes.
Inside, there’s a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking for one car right outside. There’s bike storage if you need it. Sorry, no pets.
