Galena

Galena is a cottage in Glenridding, up in the Lakes. It’s detached, which means it’s on its own up a bit of a slope, surrounded by trees. You get squirrels around here, sometimes deer come right up to the patio.

It sleeps six people. Three bedrooms, one bathroom. It’s got a 3 Star rating, so it’s clean and comfortable, not luxurious. The stairs are slopey. You know, normal cottage stairs.

The village centre is a five minute walk down the hill. You’ve got a couple of pubs that do food, a shop, cafes. That’s where you get the Ullswater steamers from, or you can hire bikes or boats.

This place is really for walking. You’re right in it. Helvellyn is on your doorstep if you’re up for that. Aira Force waterfall is a short drive away. Pooley Bridge is about four miles at the other end of the lake.

Facilities: there’s a woodburner for cold nights, a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV. Bedding and towels are included. There’s parking right at the cottage. No pets allowed.
